Jim Harper was promoted to CFO after joining the Waterstone Mortgage Accounting team earlier this year.
Help us welcome the latest addition to the Waterstone Mortgage executive team!
Earlier this year, Jim Harper joined our Accounting team as the VP – Accounting & Finance. He quickly fit right in with our close-knit Waterstone Mortgage team, and we knew great things were in store for him.
That’s why we’re excited to share that Jim was recently promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO)!
“Jim has been an integral part of our team for the past several months, and his leadership, financial expertise, and dedication to our company’s success make him the ideal candidate for this role,” says Waterstone Mortgage President & CEO Jeff McGuiness. “His promotion reflects our confidence in his ability to ensure the seamless continuation of our financial planning and oversight while bringing innovative ideas to the table.”
Getting to Know Jim
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, including seven years in mortgage lending. Before joining our company, he served as the CFO for Summit Mortgage Corporation and the Lead Financial Officer for Ameriprise Financial.
Jim has an extensive background in financial strategy, enhancing operational efficiency, and leading high-performing teams. Throughout his career, he has helped his companies grow significantly, collectively saving them $100 million+ by re-engineering initiatives, growing revenue, and creating expense efficiencies. (Wow, that’s a big number!)
Jim is also an awesome leader who has helped his team members (both within the country and internationally) develop in their professional skills.
Now, as the CFO of Waterstone Mortgage, Jim leads our accounting and funding teams, with a focus on ensuring efficient operations. As a member of the executive team, he provides reliable and actionable financial data to support our organization, while developing and encouraging his team members’ skills and capabilities.
“I am thrilled to lead the accounting and finance organization at Waterstone Mortgage,” says Jim. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s high-quality reputation in the industry and its long-track record of growth, financial stability, and customer satisfaction.”
When it comes to working in mortgage lending, Jim enjoys the mission of his work. Helping people buy a house and create their own home is one of his favorite parts of this job. As a homeowner himself, Jim loves having a gathering place for his family; while his children are beginning their own lives, he and his wife Patty love inviting them to visit as much as possible.
In his free time, you’ll find Jim fishing and boating with his family. He’s a former soccer player who now enjoys coaching and watching games. Jim also volunteers for the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, the Knights of Columbus, and his church parish.
Join us in congratulating Jim on his new role!
